Stoney Ridge Farm

We went out to Stoney Ridge Farm this weekend.

First, a big tractor pulled us in a covered wagon all the way out to the pumpkin patch. We sat on hay bails and enjoyed the ride withthe other families. I really enjoyed picking a few pumpkins and gourds to bring home as well as snacking on apples right out of the orchard.

The corn maze was quite a thrill, too. My Mom had to hustle to not lose me in the tall stalks.

Then we had lunch by a big campfire, fed the animals, played on the playground, went for a train ride and shared a big pumpkin cookie.

It was a great time.

Oh Deer, Again.

Our friend came back today with who we think was his sister. He only stayed for a bit, but she stayed all day. She nibbled apples, dozed in the neighbor's front yard, nibbled some more and then came into our yard to snack on the wysteria and walk right up to the front window where we were peering at her.

For a while we thought she might come right up and ring the bell...

I named her Weena.

Oh Deer!

This guy, and a couple of his friends, have been making regular appearances at our place lately. Our front yard seems to be part of the path they've chosen to get to our next door neighbor's apples. It's nice to watch them come and go, although this morning we got a little closer of a look than expected.

Mom and I were heading out to the car when we pretty much ran smack into him standing on the pathway. We didn't see him until we had begun to walk under the wysteria that covers the archway of our walk...and then there he was, inches away, sharp horns and all.

These shots are taken from our yard after our friend made his way over to the neighbor's apple tree.

A Song For Me

I seem to have found my singing voice. I do quite a bit of these days. One favorite tune to sing by myself is the ABC's. And I like to accompany my music cd's and Mom and Dad's nighttime lullabies, too.

At the beach this week with Mom we saw a seagull floating along. Suddenly, he burst into song. My Mom asked me if I thought he might be singing for his friends or maybe for his Mama, but I told her "no, Mom, I think he sings just for himself."

We should all find a bit more time to do that, don't you think?

Silly Grins

Lately, I've had quite a silly sense of humor.

Last night my Mom told me so and asked me if the baby would be as silly. I told her no, and when she asked what the baby would be like I told her, "It will be like Daddy's coffee."

And then I flashed one of these cheeseball grins.

The Birthday Party

Yesterday I spread this blanket out and lined up these animals to celebrate Bear's 2nd birthday. I brought each one their own snack, for example: Lion enjoyed a hot dog, while Little Dog ate a tomato. The Guest of Honor, Bear, ate two nuts.

Things really got crazy when the presents arrived. Everyone got one. Lion got a bottle full of rocks, Duck got an octopus and Bear got a bubble blower.

Next, we all sang Happy Birthday to Bear. I helped him blow out his candles.

It might be hard to believe that I thought this all up on my own, but I have quite an imagination these days.
