ezra and liza's blog

We're Ezra and Liza Jane. This our blog. It's where you can see what we've been up to lately. I'm Ezra. I love Mom, Dad, Sissy, playing outside, reading stories, soccer, building things, legoes and tigers. I'm Liza Jane. This is my blog, too. I love Mom, Dad, Ya Ya (Ezra), school, stories, being silly, dancing to music, taking care of my babies and showing off my big vocabulary.

A Basket and Some Books

My Daddy, his brothers, Stephen and Michael, and his sister, Michele, all slept in this basket as little kids. My cousins, Austin, Owen, Maya and Finn, as well as myself have also had a turn. Now it's Liza's turn.

Aunt Lauren came to visit and meet baby sister.

Liza Jane Price

At long last, a name for baby sister.

I've been taking a music class for over a year now, and one of the songs we sing has become the bedtime lullaby I do with Mom each night.

"Come my love and go with me, Little Liza Jane. Oh, Liza, Little Liza Jane.."

One night while singing it, I decided to sing to my little sister and bent down to sing the words to Mama's belly. That was when the idea first popped into Mom's head that it might be a nice name to use. It seemed to fit with the other cousin names, which if you haven't noticed are almost all 4 letters and either end in "a" or "n" (Austin, Owen, Ezra, Maya, Finn, Liza). Also, some books we looked in said the name meant "joyful," which baby sister most certainly is.

These are all nice reasons for the name, but the most significant one relates to a Jewish tradition. Often families will use the first letter of the name of the person they wish to honor. For example, my Mom's name, Alisa Anne, is chosen to honor her late grandfather, Abraham. Daddy's godmother is named Lois and although Mommy and I haven't met we have always heard such wonderful things about what a generous, giving and resilient person she is.

So, we are very proud to give Little Sister a name beginning with "L" to honor Great Aunt Lois Ann Gambell. We are sure she will grow to be a most joyful, giving, resilient girl.

Elapsed Time...10 Minutes

Yes, ten minutes is all it the time it took me today to dump out very single toy bin I have and every container. Out went the balls, the cars, the blocks, the animals, the Legoes, the Tinker toys, the Lincoln logs, the tools....you name it, it went in a big heap on the floor so that I could use the containers for this camping fort that I was making. These pictures really don't do my work justice.

My Mom smiled at my creativity and resourcefulness. I seemed to notice she was smiling a little less as we crawled around on hands and knees later trying to clean it all up.

I must admit, at 40 weeks pregnant, it was quite a sight...

Marbles Anyone?

I really enjoy reading the Richard Scary books my Grandma and Grandpa Price have given me. For sometime now I've been commenting on one particular picture, which shows a variety of different games. I've been intrigued by a game which Mom and Dad said was called marbles. Everytime I read the book I say how much I'd like to try that game so last week my Mom picked me up a tin of them and it's all I want to do lately.

My favorite thing to do is create ramps and courses for them with my Daddy. Here I am testing out our newest run.
